EAA Accessibility Statement

Verso Books is committed to making our website accessible, in accordance with the European Accessibility Act. 

This accessibility statement applies to versobooks.com. 

 

Compliance status

This website is currently partially compliant with technical standard EN 301 549 v3.2.1 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA (see Non-accessible content, below, for details).

 

Current accessibility measures 

In order to ensure accessibility, our site contains the following features:  

  • Text-based descriptions (alt text): these will be provided for all images added to our website after 28 June, 2025. We are working on adding alt text retroactively to all images.  

  • Multimedia alternatives: As of 28 June, 2025, all of the videos uploaded to our will have closed captions and all of our audio posts will have text transcripts. We are working on adding these features retroactively to all video and audio files.   

  • Logical navigation: Our site uses clear menus and headings for intuitive browsing.

  • Screen reader compatibility: We have confirmed that our site, including checkout pages, works with screen readers.

  • Keyboard accessibility: All functions on our site are operable without a mouse. 

 

In addition to the above, Verso is undertaking the following regular work: 

  • Training staff: All staff are being trained in accessibility best practices and how to implement them.

  • Regular testing: We will regularly evaluate our site’s compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and EN 301 549 (the European accessibility standard) using both manual and automated testing methods.

 

Non-accessible content

We are working hard to make our website fully accessible and bring it into compliance with current standards. The content listed below is not accessible for the following reason(s):

  • Video captions: We are aware that many of the videos posted to our site do not have captions or audio description. We are adding these to all previously-uploaded videos. 

  • Audio transcripts: Podcast audio files embedded on our website do not have transcripts. We are working on adding these to previously-posted podcasts. 

  • Image alt text: We are currently working on uploading alt text for all images on our website including for product pages and blog posts.

This statement is based on self-assessment of a representative sample of website pages using a combination of automated and manual testing methods.
